At ECAT we understand the value of giving kids the opportunity to push themselves both physically and mentally. Through our many years of involvement with the sport we have had the pleasure of watching youngsters develop their climbing skills both indoors and outdoors, some going on to climb and compete in the world arena, others embracing with passion the simple and clean lifestyle that rock climbing embodies. Rock climbing is one of the few sports that is not overly limited by age or gender. Absolute strength and height are rarely the limiting factors, instead rock climbing relies on strength in relation to body weight. This means kids (who are generally lighter than adults) have the opportunity to excel with proper training. Currently teenagers from Europe and the USA are pushing the limits of rock climbing difficulty, redefining what was once thought possible.
If your group has younger kids who are not participating they will be required to remain seated and supervised by their parents or guardians. This is for their own safety and the safety of our other patrons.
We can only teach children to belay if they are at least 12 years old on the day of attendance. This requirement is set down by Australian Standards and WorkCover. If your group has younger kids who are not old enough to belay please bring enough adults to hold the ropes for the kids.
