Evolution Climbing and Training was established in 1994 and originally dubbed "The Pitch". Initially
developed as a training ground for rock climbers, ECAT has expanded to provide an easy path for
the public to experience the vertical world. Indoor rock climbing remains fundamental to climbers
wishing to train for the cliffs, and has proven it's strength as an alternative to mainstream gyms as
a functional fitness and weight loss tool. Owned, operated and staffed by rock climbers, ECAT is
fueled by a passion for climbing and training. The facilities at ECAT encompass the most prevalent
styles of rock climbing. The primary difference between rock climbing styles is the method used to
keep the climber safe in case of a fall. The three predominant forms of rock climbing are :
1. Top Roping (the most common technique in indoor rock climbing centres)
2. Leading (requires more roping skills and special training, most common at the cliffs)
3. Bouldering (unroped climbing utilizing crash pads to protect the falling climber)

At ECAT we have areas dedicated to each of these styles to meet the diverse needs of our clientelle. Please follow the links to learn more about what we do:)
