At ECAT we believe that starting out in rock climbing should be as easy and hassle free as possible.
Climbing is intuitave to most of us, and an indoor rock climbing centre provides the perfect venue for
an exploration of the vertical world. ECAT strives to provide a complete indoor rock climbing experience
regardless of the skill level of our clients. We have everything you need to start (or further) your climbing life!
When you come to the centre for the first time our staff will provide you with all the instruction you need
to stay safe and enjoy your time with us. Our staff are always available to help with climbing technique
and instruction.
We recommend that clients dress in attire suitable for exercise or gymnasium. Enclosed shoes
are a requirement (bare feet are not permitted in the centre).
Upon arrival at ECAT each participant will be required to fill out and sign our registration form.
Any climbers below the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian sign the form also.
These forms are available on our home page as a PDF file if required.
We do not charge a membership or administration fee for this process, and will issue an ECAT registration
card to all clients over the age of 18 and those younger clients who have been signed in by their legal guardian.
Presentation of this card on subsequent visits will eliminate the need for repeating the registration process.
ECAT staff will then train the participants in the use of the equipment including the harness and belay system.
Due to WorkCover regulations participants under the age of 12 years are not permitted to belay other climbers,
so if your group has a large proportion of younger people it is advisable to enlist the aid of their parents to
help with the belaying. There is no charge for people attending the centre to assist with belaying.
Once our safety requirements have been satisfied you will be free to use the centre.
Of course we are happy to repeat the instruction process whenever required.
