Bouldering is unroped climbing utilizing crash pads and a spotter to protect the falling climber.

Bouldering is the simplest form of climbing and is very common both in the indoor and outdoor environment.

Climbers do not need to wear a harness use a rope or have a belayer. Unencumbered by roped climbing equipment, bouldering lends itself to a more gymnastic and explosive style of climbing movement.

Bouldering has allowed climbers to push the absolute limits of difficulty on rock.

Bouldering is perfect for developing strength, power, flexibility and co-ordination. Bouldering is pure climbing fun for climber of all skill levels and experience.

Our bouldering walls are the jewel in the ECAT crown. These walls represent the true evolution of our centre (and the sport of rock climbing at large). Designed for those who love to move their bodies and wish to learn the true nature of co-ordination and power, our bouldering walls allow maximum freedom of movement across large spaces unencumbered by ropes and harnesses. Releasing the integral gymastic aspect of rock climbing, bouldering at ECAT adds a whole new dimension to indoor bouldering. Over 20m long, up to 5m in vertical height, with a maximum wall length of 9m our bouldering walls are truly in a class of their own. Amazing terrain littered with moveable 3 dimensional features provide our coursesetting team with the best canvas on which to work their art. With a minimum of 80 professionally constructed problems ranging in grades from V1 to V12 plus a regular rotation, you will never be short of a project!
